Before leaving, check the requirements of your destination and carrier: vaccinations, documents, accommodation policies. They vary from one country and company to another and sometimes change; confirm them with official sources and your veterinarian.

By car, plan regular breaks for water, stretching and short walks, and keep the cabin at a comfortable temperature. Never leave your dog alone in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes: the temperature inside rises much faster than outside. A familiar blanket or object helps them settle for the drive.

“A good journey often begins the day before.”

By plane or train, conditions differ from one carrier to another: cabin or hold, crate dimensions, health documents, booking deadlines. Confirm them directly with the carrier before you book — they change, sometimes from one season to the next.

In the luggage: their usual food for the whole stay, water and a bowl, any treatments with their instructions, a familiar object and waste bags. Keeping the same food and the same rhythms spares your companion one change among many. Le Nécessaire keeps the essentials of the walk within reach.

Update their profile before leaving: in the VELKYNO Registry, check your details, add an emergency contact who can be reached during the trip and choose what is visible. If someone finds your dog far from home, a single gesture on the medallion is enough to reach you.

Finally, give yourself margin: arrive early, keep the documents together and let your dog sniff around before each departure. A calm journey is prepared the day before — and it is shared from the very first kilometre.
